What a joy it was to catch up with our Bill and some of the Oxfordshire branch of our brilliant Harmony Night listeners in Abingdon this week.

Shantie from Oxford, John & Nora from Kidlington, Keith & Sheila and Trevor and Lynda from Tadley and Joyce & Stephen from Edenbridge - to name but a few! A huge thank you to everyone that came along, and to Ian from Harwell who wrote a poem just for the occasion, which I had the pleasure to read out. (You can read it for yourself in Poetry Corner.)

It just goes to show, that although the show may have ended, these lovely friendships live on...

Have a good week ahead everyone!

Lisa

Hello Harmony Night family!

How are you? I hope you are keeping well and warm.

It's good to see the days starting to get longer, finally! I read that we are now getting 3.5 minutes of extra sunlight per day, which adds up to 25 minutes extra per week. Happy days!

Happy Valentine's Day to all of you who celebrated on Friday. Mark and I exchanged flowers and small gifts. Our cat Sydney always loves an occasion, whatever it is, just as long as there is wrapping paper or a new box, he's in his element! This time I caught him, smelling the roses!! Or was he trying to eat the foliage? Hmmn... Either way, it did make us giggle...

Syd has a message for all his Harmony Night pals: "Wot iz dis Valentine's Day malarkey? All dat lovey dovey stuff, iz weird. Just be nice every day, innit!"

Thanks Syd. Take care all...

Hello and a happy New Year to you!

I hope your Christmas break was everything you wanted it to be.

Ours was perfect. Seeing friends and family either side of Christmas, but on the big day itself, the three of us, Mark (my hubby), Sydney (our wonderful pussycat) and myself, spent the day relaxing, eating and being cosy!

Sydney is still his characterful self! He doesn't like the cold, wet & windy weather, and point blank refuses to go outside on some days. We have a cream furry throw on the sofa and his favourite thing to do is to snuggle in close to one of us and have a snooze. He even snores sometimes!

Mark and I had a wonderful month away in Australia & Malaysia in November - a real holiday of a lifetime. Sadly, Sydney couldn't come with us, but he had his uncles and aunties come and stay with him and he was very well looked after.

I've loved catching up some of the Harmony Night family recently, including Anna of Andover - thank you for the Christmas cards and get well soon; Mary of Newbury - thank you too Mary and keep on baking and Gerry in Blewbury - keep those jokes coming! Also, big thanks to Ian in Harwell for his lovely emails and poems!

We raised a glass in memory of Harmony Night on New Year's Eve. I can't believe it's been a whole year since we were last all together. We miss the show and you very much. I'm so glad that despite the show ending, the Harmony Night family stays strong. I know Bill and Rita speak to many of you on a daily basis, which is so heartwarming.

I hope 2025 treats us all kindly and that you stay happy and healthy!

With love from us all

Lisa, Mark and Sydney

Hello Harmony Night family!

I hope you had a lovely summer and enjoyed the warm (and wet!) weather. This week has felt distinctly autumnal.

That’s the thing about having a September birthday. You could have a summery, sunny day, or, as we had on Wednesday, a mix of sunshine and showers! We visited one of my favourite Cotswolds places – Bourton on the Water. It has a little river running through the centre of it and beautiful, honey-coloured Cotswold stone buildings either side. It is so cute! Bill tells me that Rita was evacuated there as a child, during World War II. It must have been hard to leave home at such a young age. But going somewhere so full of charm of beauty, hopefully made the ordeal a little more palatable.

I had a lovely birthday, full of love, kindness, messages, cards and presents. Sydney the cat thought it was his birthday too, as he had a host of new boxes to climb into!

Sending you all lots of love.

Best wishes

Lisa (and Sydney!) xx

It was lovely to catch up on the phone with two of our Harmony Night family members this week.

Anna of Andover is doing well and very kindly sent our Sydney the cat a birthday card this week (more on that on the Home page). She is continuing to visit the nearby lake and is delighted to report now have eight cygnets and all are doing very well. She says she "misses the show terribly" on a Sunday night. But remembers us all fondly...

Meanwhile, Gerry of Blewbury (pic of us together, below) has just been on a lovely holiday with her hubby to Bognor Regis. Being just one minute away from the sea front, Gerry spent the time honing her joke writing skills. Her latest, just for us, are on the Joke Box page.

It's always lovely to hear from you, our lovely friends. Please do keep in touch if you can... Warm wishes and a happy summer (when it comes!)

Lisa xx

What a wonderful lunch we had at Abingdon’s Boundary House pub on Thursday, where 35 of us Harmony Nighters gathered together.

It was lovely to put faces to names – John and Nora of Kidlington, Joyce from Edenbridge and Geri from Blewbury – who I had all spoken to many times during the shows, but had never met in person before. Thanks to Geri for her page of jokes (see our new Joke Box page) and to Sheila from Tadley for her cute knitted doll!

There was so much love in the room from everyone from our much missed Harmony Night show and for our Bill of course! The show may have ended (for now – we never give up hope!) but the Harmony Night family remains, stronger than ever!

Much love

Lisa x

PS. Sydney says: “Where woz my invite fur da lunch eh? I’ll happily sit and eats ma food wiv da hoomans! I’d probably eat some of theirs too!!”

Hello all!

How are you? I hope you are doing well.

As Bill mentioned, I have kept in contact with Marion and she is doing ok. She is recovering from a nasty fall and is in quite a bit of pain. But she is being looked after and we all wish her a speedy recovery.

I have also caught up recently with Anna of Andover - who's still visiting the lake and checking on the swans and cygnets; as well as Mary from Newbury who is always so lovely and positive; Roy in Southend, who's continuing work on his autobiography with the help of his son; Ian in Harwell who is continuing to write his wonderful poems and Sheila & Keith in Tadley. I'm hoping to catch up with Geri from Blewbury at the event in Abingdon and John and Nora in Kidlington! I'm delighted that the Harmony Night family continues...

Warm hugs

Lisa (and Sydney of course!)

Xx
